Last updated: September 2026 There are no accounts, no sign-ups, and no personal details collected by us. We don't know who you are, and we don't track you across other sites. Your saved clippings, theme choice, text size, and language preference are stored directly in your own browser — not on our servers, and not accessible to us. Clearing your browser data or switching devices removes them, because they never left your device. When you simplify an article, the text you paste in is sent to our server, which picks out the key sentences. Nothing writes or changes the summary for you. If you choose a language other than English, the key lines may be sent to free third-party translation services so they can be translated. If those are unavailable, we offer a link that opens Google Translate, which is governed by Google's own privacy policy. Précis doesn't fetch web pages for you. If you pick a language other than English, we send that choice too, so your summary comes back in the right language. None of this ever includes any personal information about you — only the article's own content. This site may show adverts, which can involve cookies used by our advertising partner to show relevant ads and measure performance. You'll be asked to accept or decline non-essential cookies before any are set. We don't store or cache the full text of any article you paste. To make repeat requests for the same article faster and consistent, the finished summary itself may be held briefly in the server's own temporary memory — never the original article's full text, and not tied to who asked for it in any way. Beyond that, the only lasting copy is whatever you personally choose to save, which stays on your own device. We also check each site's robots.txt before reading it, and won't read a page that a publisher has explicitly asked automated tools not to access. Précis doesn't fetch other websites on your behalf. If you open an article elsewhere, that site's own privacy policy applies, not this one.
